1. The Guo Lab at University of North Carolina at Charlotte is looking for one Ph.D. student to work on a newly funded research project by NSF. The goal of the project is to develop computational methods for genomic scale prediction of transcription factor (TF) binding sites, through modeling protein-DNA interactions.  We are looking for highly motivated students with backgrounds in computational chemistry, biophysics, computer science, biology or other related fields. The student should have a strong interest in structural bioinformatics with an interdisciplinary perspective.  The successful candidate will be accepted to the IT PhD-Bioinformatics track program. To be considered for full funding, applications for Fall 2010 should be received by December 15, 2009. The IT PhD program application process can be completed online through the graduate school's website: uncc graduate school application. For other inquiries, please contact Dr. Guo directly.

2.  A postdoctoral research associate position in bioinformatics and computational biology will be available in June of 2010. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop computational methodology for protein structure prediction, protein-DNA docking and related projects (research projects in Guolab). Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Working experience with computational structural biology will be a plus. Strong ability in programming is required. The initial appointment is for one year and may be extended. Interested candidates should send an updated CV to Dr. Jun-tao Guo, Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC, 28223.

3.  (Position closed!) Part-time graduate assistantship position is also available. The ideal candidates should have experience in programming, web design and database development. Knowledge in biology will be a big plus.  Interested students should send an updated CV to Dr. Guo.
